hello cobra clans members , sorry i havent bee on , is been a long time but had some problems , my hard drive mess up , and i lost the quake cd , and cant find any where to buy or download i dont even remember how i got it in the first place lol was given as gift from a friend .

anyways if anyone knows where i can download it , please let me know ....

If you want to put up with steam (Really not worth it imo) you can buy it there, but probably use it as a LAST RESORT (www.steampowered.com)

I'd suggest ebay or maybe some local game stores that sell older games.

hey kurupt you can use P2P (Peer-to-Peer) like bearshare (which I use) and I downloaded q3a like a year ago from there only took a few mins for me so good luck man, hope to see yah on the servers soon

I've seen that a few time, try opening your config (baseq3/q3config.cfg) and look for any of the r_ settings, make sure they're all right (like r_customwidth should be your monitors width in pixels, r_customheight the same but height (Obviously) and r_mode should be -1 if widescreen, anything else should be from like 2-9 I think. If you don't know much about those settings you can google them, or even try downloading another config off the net, see if that works.

you need to go to ids website and download the 1.30 point release and install it (somewhere other then your origional release-i seggest creating a folder called games under your c drive if your on anything lower then vista) then take the contents of your old baseq3 folder and dump them into the same folder in the 1.30 install and create a shortcut to the new quake executable on your desktop and you shouyld be golden (its been a way long time so if i got anything messed up let me know)
by the way there is a newer 1.32 release for quake but its more trouble then its worth and its not what the cobra server uses so if you install it you still wont be able to connect to our server so make sure you get the version 1.30 release and not the 1.32

theres a version switcher out there somewhere too but its hard to find and it can be a little too buggy for the non tech savvy

my instructions (unfortunately) should be about the easiest way to get you where you need to be

if you downloaded the 1.30 point release then updating would make it 1.32 and then you wouldnt be able to play our server anymore

just dont update and your fine

its an old game the update servers are long dead

it has someting to do with a dll file provided by quake that was ment for video cards from way back when (voodoos and whatnot) anyway if i remember right i just deletted a dll file or replaced it with a newer one im not sure but i do recall it was supisingly easy to fix

i will look more into it when im less tired and get back to you
